DR.S.C.SHARMA AND HIS RESEARCH ON ENVIRONMENT

Dr. S.C. Sharma is a researcher and an environmentalist endowed with a strong volition to create Eco-friendly ambiance. His vast research expertise and profound concern for the environment has led to establishing R V Centre for Sustainable Technology, on the campus of R V College of Engineering, Bangalore

Dr.S.C. Sharma has made significant contribution in the area of environmental research. His major contributions are through his exploratory studies on the treatment of primary sludge from vrishabavathi valley and its conversion into useful organic manure, which could be utilized by the farming community on the downstream of the valley. He has adopted a novel approach of Vermicomposting for increased fertility in the manure. He has been instrumental in identifying the phenomenal fill kills in major tanks inside the city of Bangalore. He has carried out limnological studies on the lake waters in and around the city. He has been involved in the assessment of heavy metals in the biota of the three major valleys of Bangalore and also their accumulation in the vegetable produce.

The Objectives

  • To characterize the sewage
  • To eliminate heavy metals present in the sewage by chelation process
  • To conduct microbiological examination of sewage
  • To obtain the sludge by primary setting process
  • To design and fabricate windrows for production of vermicompost.
  • To segregate the humus from undigested.
  • To recycle the worms for subsequent cycles.
  • To create awareness amongst the rural folk and popularization of vermicompost

GRASS ROOT LEVEL TECHNOLOGY AND PURE ENERGY CENTER

This center has gone a step further is breeding earthworm and through various natural methods and by making them know about same of these things and by giving training to them has controlled environmental pollution and green technology. About 3000 farmers are benefited by the training given in natural methods by their center.

This center has succeeded in eradicating the danger caused in hospitals and industries to spreading pollution by the poisonous chemical substances.

This center is giving training to the youth of rural areas at lower cost relating to the manufacture of domestic articles from unwanted things such as Bricks, Polymer things free from earth quake and polymer component things etc.

Apart from these things, these centers have successfully made available to the agriculturists, the formation of technical knowledge of driving cart, spare parts of the window, light chimneys etc.

The center has involved itself in the task of production of hydrogen for development of technology. The center is indulged in the starting of project of hydro-electric generation station from the hydrogen produced. As the project has been quite useful, electricity and fertilizers are made available.
