HETP
Dr. R Suresh, Professor, Chemical Engineering Principal Coordinator
R V College of Engineering and Technology Information and Forecasting Assessment Council (TIFAC) New Delhi, have instituted a joint R&D Programme on sustainable Hydrogen Economy Technologies. The R&D activities carried out under the programme called as Hydrogen Economy Technology Programme (HETP) for the past six years have been in the areas of Hydrogen Generation and Hydrogen application technologies. Dedicated R&D Teams from academia and other National R&D Labs are involved in this pursuit.
The outcomes of the HETP are
Establishment of a Hydrogen Fuel Cell Test and evaluation centre. Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) Fuel Cell, fabrication, application and development for powering Traffic signal blinkers, industrial robots, offline charging of the battery pack of electric vehicles and powering office equipments. |
Establishment of facilities for testing of internal combusting Engines which includes Engine test beds with dynometer (for testing 240Kw multi cylinder engines). Fuel management system, Emission testing equipment (Smoke meter and Five Gas analyzer), Engine data acquisition system, Indimeter. |
R & D team has developed a low cost Aqua Gas Generator indigenously for the exploration of commercial potential of environment friendly aqua gas application in metal cutting operations, metallurgy, components deburning, gold smithy etc. |
Infrastructure has been established for the production of hydrogen from biomass. The gasification facility can generate about 140 Cu m hydrogen per day while the infrastructure for hydrogen from microbial digestion includes Bioreactor, incubators autoclave and Gas chromatograph. |
Technology has been developed for Gas Separation using Ceramic Membranes in collaboration with BHEL. |
Under the paradigm shift in the approach towards Clean Energy and Environment, R V TIFAC-HETP instituted the Foundation for Clean Energy & Environment (FCEE) as an independent entity dedicated towards promotion of sustainable clean technology in the areas of energy and environment for improving the quality of life in the current millennium. Under this Foundation 100 Kwe Biomass Gasifier based power plant has been commissioned for meeting part of energy requirement of the college. |
