About the Programme:
The Department of Electronics & communication Engineering started M. Tech Program in Communication Systems in the year 2006. The program is approved by AICTE, State Government and affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University Karnataka.
In the present scenario of Information & Communication Technology, Communication Engineering is of vital importance for any society. The communication revolution has led the whole world being global village concept. The prominent domains covered in this programme are Modern Digital Signal Processing, Advanced Digital Communication, Optical Communication & Networking, Wireless Communication, Error-Control Coding, Antenna Theory & Design.
Mathematical base being extremely essential, subjects like Linear Algebra, Probability and Random processes form a part of the curriculum. Electives include, Simulation Modeling and Analysis, Real Time Operating Systems, Multimedia Communication, Wireless Sensor Network, Communication System Design using DSP Algorithms, Cryptography & Network Security, Statistical Signal Processing, Radar Systems and Advanced Computer Networks. Students also have an access to industry collaborative lab set up by Texas Instruments, Nxp Semiconductors and Freescale semiconductors.
Eligibility: Candidates who have acquired BE/B.Tech/AMIE degree in Electronics and Communication, Telecommunication Engineering by securing not less than 50% marks in aggregate are eligible. However in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/Group 1 aggregate percentage of marks in qualifying examination should not be less than 45%. The admissions are through central counseling on the basis of merit in PGCET or GATE. GATE qualified candidates are eligible for scholarship through AICTE.. A few seats are also available for sponsored and Management candidates.
Infrastructure: The students are required to learn through hands on in various laboratories in the department, namely: Advanced Communication Lab, Microwave & Antenna Lab, Advanced DSP lab etc.
Research Areas: Students are motivated to participate in research projects in the areas of, but not limited to: wired and wireless communication, Smart antennas, Signal Processing, Image, Video and speech processing.
Placement opportunities: Alcatel-Lucent, BEL, Nokia, Erricson, Cognizant, Tata Consultancy services and many more offer internship and placement opportunities.
