About the Programme:
M. Tech in Highway Technology was started in the year 2009 in the department of Civil Engineering. The program is approved by AICTE, Government of Karnataka and is affiliated to Visveswaraya Technological University, Karnataka. The course was started considering the shortage of technically sound practicing highway and traffic engineers who also have field exposure. The curriculum concentrates on techniques of planning and design of roads, bridges and drainage based on traffic and ecological studies. The student is also exposed to construction & management of highways, pavements , preventive and remedial measures of pavement failures, newer technologies in Highway design as well as laying. The students are well trained in traffic and transportation subjects also to supplement the course. They are exposed to special problems in road construction with the application of modern construction equipments. It is well balanced program to suit the present and future requirements of infrastructure development based on 12th plan of Government of India.
Periodically students are taken to the field to understand the practical problems and keep them abreast of latest technologies in construction practice.
