M.Tech programme in structural engineering was started in 2006 with Prof K.S.Jagadish (Retd.Prof, IISc and AICTE Emeritus scientist) as head of PG studies. The students are admitted based on PGCET and GATE entrance tests. The staff-student ratio is 1:12

The programme is of four semester duration, out of which the first three semesters is for course work. The last semester is for dissertation work. Both experimental and numerical project works are under way. The topics of the project work are selected based on the recent research programmes and most of the work aims at finding solutions to practical problems.

The long term goals of this program are to have research and development in thrust areas and to develop a full fledged consultancy cell.
